We hoped on the 12:30pm Amtrak train to Hudson from Grand Central Station. I was giddy with excitement, tired as heck and simply happy. I love trains and don’t get to sit on them as often as I would like…2 hrs later we got off in Hudson.

You might be wondering what brought me to Hudson, NY in the first place…being that it’s 2 hours north of NYC and not a top destination by any means. My best friend Jenna introduced me to the city because her cousin @zioandsons renovated a home there. I was in awe of his @thisoldhudson property and knew it would be the perfect little getaway to re-inspire my content. I had been dreaming of staying there for months!

Let’s just say that visiting Hudson did more for me in two days then any other place has. Of course traveling abroad is a totally different experience but Hudson left a mark on me. It was charming, historic, with small-town vibes that people talk about but us city dwellers never really experience. I wanted to take photos in every inch of the city…up and down Warren Street, inside all the beautiful antique shops and outside in the green, crisp rolling hills.

We had 2 short days here but this is what I would highly suggest:

-Fly into a major NYC airport and take the Amtrak up to Hudson.

-Once there rent a car! I was lucky enough to have Lexus provide us with the amazing Lexus LS Sedan. I suggest renting a car because you’ll want to drive out of the main city into nature! Trust me…it was breathtaking. Plus, Uber’s are hard to come by in such a small town, you’ll be waiting a while!

-Have breakfast at Tanzy’s the breakfast spot for locals (this is where the phone rang on the wall and Enzie and I thought we were in 1970). It’s just charming and untouched!

-Have lunch at Le Gamin. Enzie and I spent an afternoon chatting with the owner’s son Nick. The walls at Le Gamin are filled with vintage signs, vintage Coke Cans and the food is phenomenal! I had the Crocque Madame. (below are photos from Le Gamin)

-Stay at This Old Hudson…seriously.

The trip inspired me to visit more of the US and I can’t wait to go back…perhaps one day I can own a rental property there!
