Over this past weekend Emin and I had a co-ed Baby “Shower” I use the term “shower” lightly because it was really just a little party with our immediate family and best friends. I went back and forth on having anything at all for awhile and after attending a few co-ed events I felt that fit us best. We had the co-ed shower for a few reasons:

1. Of course a bridal shower honors the bride but the baby shower should celebrate the parent(s)…both parents! Hey it takes two people to make a baby! Why shouldn’t the dad be a part of the celebration as well? It was important for me that Emin be there to celebrate Baby V!

2. If you suffer from social anxiety and can’t handle all the attention on yourself (like me) then having someone to share the spotlight with makes it much MUCH easier to relax and enjoy.

3. Co-ed showers tend to be more casual, budget friendly and non-traditional. We hosted in our backyard, everything was DIY and we had a taco guy for food. Plus no games which I will get to later!

As for decor everything was DIY. I wanted a Boho Fall Pumpkin theme:

Pumpkins – were purchased at Hobby Lobby and Trader Joes

Dessert Table Runner – I bought 5 yards of white chiffon fabric from the fabric store. Cost about $25

Candlesticks – Vintage, purchased from Etsy. I got 5 of them for $25 and mixed them with ones I had.

Flowers – I didn’t want anything that would wilt and since it was Fall I decided to go with dried flowers: Pampas grass, Wheat, Eucalyptus, Bunny Tail and some other fillers. If you happen to live in a major city like LA check out the flower market because I got all my flowers for $50!

Dessert – Our cake, cupcakes and cute onsie Baby V cookies were supplied by the amazing Sweet E’s Bake Shop! They were SO delicious and everyone loved the treats.

As I said, we had a taco guy for food who came set up and fed us all to the brim and we had casual drinks/alcohol outside. It was a simple gathering but filled with so much love and happiness! I felt elated and so grateful for the people around me.

We decided not to play any baby shower games. It’s not my style personally but there are some REALLY fun co-ed ones that I wanted to share below:

Beer Belly or Baby Belly – in this game you create a board with beer belly photos or baby bump photos and guests have to guess which is which.

Finish the bottle race (with beer) – have the men attending chug (or suck rather) beer from a baby bottle. First one who finishes wins.

Super Dad – blindfold the dad and some of his friends, give them a good spin and have them change a dirty diaper on a doll. Remove, wipe, apply diaper cream and a new diaper. First one who finishes wins.

There are a ton of great games and it’s fun when the men do it!

Dress – Zara
